FATHERHOOD LIBRARY -- This tells about a project we started in 1997, but abandonded for some unknown reason. We still think it is a good idea as a brick-and-mortar library (or libraries) -- or an online project. Any volunteers?

YOU CAN HELP US MAKE THIS LIBRARY A THRIVING REALITY
This is to announce that we are establishing the FATHERHOOD LIBRARY at the
above address.
Hours are 11 AM to 4 PM, Monday though Friday.
The library is open to everyone at no charge by appointment.
We are starting with the following 7 books;
1. Father Facts, by Wade F. Horn. Sponsored by The National Fatherhood Initiative
/ 600 Eden Rd., Bldg. E / Lancaster, PA 17601
2. The Father Book, Pregnancy and Beyond. Written by a team of 6 nurses and doctors
3. What Kids Need Most In A Dad, by Tim Hansel Making Peace With Your Father,
by David Stoop
4. Fatherhood, by Bill Cosby
5. Childhood, by Bill Cosby
6. Motherhood, The Second Oldest Profession, by Erma Bombeck
7. Money Matters For Parents And Their Kids, by Ron and Judy Blue
With your help, we hope to put in a collection of approximately 800 books and
a comprehensive directory to those books so anyone can easily find what they
are looking for. When we have duplicate books they will be available for borrowing.
We need;
1. A volunteer, part time Executive Director who will build up the collection.
2. A volunteer, part time Sales Manager who will get people to use the library.
3. A volunteer, part time Librarian who will manage the library
4. Donations of appropriate Books.
5. Donations of Money so we can buy books (all donations for books will be spent
on books)
6. People to use the library.
7. Publicity, so we can get the above listed items.
8. Reviewers, Editors & Compilers to help the Librarian
9. Suggestions on what we should stock & what services we should offer.
Any help you can give us will be greatly appreciated. If you can't help directly,
please send this notice to someone who might, or send us their name so we can
contact them.
PLEASE NOTE:
It occurs to me that someone at each University might like to produce the list and bibliography referred to at the beginning of this paragraph; It would be a good project for a student in the Sociology department or in Library Studies.
A READING LIST
The following books are listed in the subject index of "Good Books, a book
lover's companion", by Steven Gilbar (1982) under the subject headings; "Fathers", "Fathers
and sons" and "Fathers and daughters". Each entry is covered by
a short summary. We hope to get a copy of each book for the Fatherhood Library.
In the list below, the author and publication date follow the title.
