MEDALLIONS --- FLAT

Flat, essentially two dimensional medallions like those shown here are easy to make and can be used as Christmas tree ornaments, mobile elements, as "God's Eyes", decorations for box tops, collages, geometric construction or what-have-you.

These are all made from  cardstock that is colored on both sides. They are glued together with a hot glue gun. You can of course use any other cardstock or even recycled cereal boxes --- which usually have lots of interesting color.

These are all made from triangles and squares --- but all types of geometric shapes can be used.

The possibilities are endless --- which you will recognize if you have ever played with TANGRAMS or COLORFORMS, which are both classic, copyrighted color/shape toys.

Let us hear from you if you figure out a novel toy, puzzle, or game made from these kinds of geometric shapes.

One could easily make a checkerboard and checkers, a parcheesi set or a backgammon set from cardstock. What else?

And don't limit yourself to two dimensions --- geometric shapes can be folded, bent and assembled into a dazzling display -- folded and assembled triangles can be made into pinwheels for instance.
