PAPER MACHE RECIPES
Here are a bunch of paper mache recipes we found on the internet. Try them and let us know what
works for you. We can't vouch for any of them. Do you have any tips or techniques we can put up here?

  1. Place 1/2 cup (150 ml) of flour and a large spoonful of salt in a bowl. The salt will help to keep the
paste from going moldy. Add 1 cup (250 ml) of warm water.

  2. Strips of newsprint and liquid starch. Dip the paper in the starch and remove excess.

  3. Ross Art Paste. It comes in powder form and you mix it with water. It makes a clear gel. It doesn't
get moldy -- keeps a long time. It's about $2.50 a box in teacher supply or art stores.

  4. I have used wheat paste for "light to medium weight." It's main purpose is a paste for hanging wall
paper. It works extremely well!! Just follow the directions on the back of the box (it is in a powder form).

  5. Plastercast rolls from Dick Blick's Catalog. The plaster is already on the strips, it doesn't mold, and
    it lasts forever !!!

  6. Stir three parts water into one part flour until the mixture is smooth and creamy.

  7. Mix one part wallpaper paste with three parts water. Stir well and the paste is ready to use.

  8. Mix two parts white glue with one part warm water. Stir well and the paste is ready to use.

  9. 1/2 cup non-self-rising wheat flour, 1/4 cup powdered resin glue, 1/2 cup warm water, 1 1/2 cups hot
water, 4 drops oil of cinnamon A. Mix flour and resin glue in a pan. B. Add 1/2 cup warm water. C. Add
hot water, stirring vigorously to prevent lumps. D. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is
thick, clear, and smooth. E. Add oil of cinnamon. Gives a very hard finish.

  10. 1 cup water -- 1/4 cup flour -- 5 cups lightly boiling water. Mix the flour into 1 cup water until the mixture
is thin and runny.  Stir this mixture into the lightly boiling water. Gently boil and stir for 2 to 3 minutes.
    Cool before using.

  11. 1/2 cup all-purpose flour -- 2 cups cold water -- 2 cups boiling water -- 3 tbsp. sugar. Mix together flour
and cold water in a bowl. Add this mixture to the boiling
water and allow it to return to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in the sugar. As the mixture cools it will
    thicken as it does.

  12. You can also just make a quicky paste by putting flour in a bowl and adding water until you have kind
    of a soupy paste.

  13. Try using powdered wall paper adhesive (non-pourous) mixed with water. It
comes in milk carton type containers and you can find it anywhere wallpaper is
    sold.

  14. This site has a formula. You can use any paper -- just tear into strips and create layers -- strong paper
works best -- brown kraft (paper bags) are good. Visit: http://www.kinderart.com/kitchen/machepulp.htm
